UPDATE: Palin spokesperson states reports of divorce are untrue.
The website Alaska Report has released a story that Todd and Sarah Palin are set to divorce. If the website is correct it will be another big break for the organization that claims to have also first reported Sarah Palin's Governor candidacy and her Vice Presidential candidacy. Alaska Report claims to have confirmed the story with multiple sources in Wasilla and Anchorage.
At this point I am holding out for more confirmation from other sources before trusting this report. The story run by Alaska Report does not name its confirmation sources which gives me reason to doubt. In addition, just in browsing the Alaska Report website it appears to be slanted toward the anti-Palin side of the media. Finally, the one source the report does cite is The National Enquirer which does not always maintain a great deal of credibility. However, The National Enquirer was the first to release the story of former Senator John Edward's affair so they have been known to break a big story every now and then.
Having said all this, if the Alaska Report is correct they will get tremendous credit for being the first to report what could be a huge story. I for one hope the story turns out to be false. I may disagree with nearly all of Palin's views but I would hate for a family with that many children to be split with divorce.

Secret Lives of Charles Lindbergh - The Lindbergh Nobody Knew
When Charles Lindbergh died in Maui in 1974—by then an environmentalist so dedicated he refused burial with any article of clothing that might contaminate the earth—there seemed little new of consequence left to discover about the once world-celebrated aviator who had, at age 25, made the first solo flight from New York to Paris back in the ’20s. The “Secret Lives of Charles Lindbergh” (Monday, 9-10 p.m. EDT, on the National Geographic Channel) provides documentary material that argues otherwise, and then some.

.If those proofs are credible—and they seem to be, given the inclusion of a cache of some hundred letters from Lindbergh himself—they would do little to alter Lindbergh’s place in history, such as it is, or the ineradicably squalid image of this briefly golden hero who would, not long after that pioneering flight, become one of the country’s foremost proponents of racist ideology, particularly impassioned in arguments that the white race must be preserved, unsullied. He was a vocal admirer of Hitler’s Germany—in particular, of the glories of its social order, efficiency and devotion to the ideals of race purity. Though he would never allow, the length of his life, that there might be any reason for him to regret his bedazzled regard for the Nazis—a regard still apparently so tender, after the war, that he found the Nuremberg war crimes trials intolerable: a proof, as he announced at the time, of America’s vengefulness against Germany—he came, in his later years, to a seeming broader view on other matters. He became an enthusiastic visitor to Africa, interested in indigenous tribes, even as he was becoming less enthusiastic about aviation, once his life’s passion. He had become a kind of true believer now in the faith that machines were destroyers—enemies of the natural world.
The secrets this film divulges testify to still broader views of an entirely different kind than the sort that his early history might suggest. From the time he came to the attention of the world at age 25, down through his years of fame and, finally, semipariah status, the Lindbergh persona remained, consistently, that of an ascetic of sorts, with a touch of the puritanical about him. From the evidence put forward by the filmmakers, Lindbergh in fact lived an extraordinarily active romantic life, particularly in the period beginning in 1957 and extending nearly till his death.

.Lucky Lindy (as he hated being called) had, by the time that period ended, fathered a total of seven children by three different German women (in addition to the five he had fathered by Anne Morrow Lindbergh). The score card is impressive, the orderliness of these arrangements beyond anything a film writer might have conceived, including the setup in “The Captain’s Paradise” (1953), in which Alec Guinness portrays a serene master of only two separate families. According to one of the adult children, their father, whom they understood to be an important businessman, had time to visit only a few times a year, as their mother explained to them when they asked questions. Still, we’re given to understand, he was a most devoted father during those few days. Lindbergh’s American children apparently had a similar sense of his dutifulness as a father, though one considerably darkened by the burden of his stringent, unyielding demands on them during their childhood.
The film points to the results of positive genetic tests as proof of the claims of Lindbergh’s three other families, as well as the letters in the hands of the children. On his deathbed, Lindbergh wrote farewells to them promising that they would be taken care of, and urging that they continue to maintain the utmost secrecy. It is, at the least, a curious chapter in the Lindbergh saga—the man so determined that the genes of the white race must be preserved had in the end, perhaps, found a way to contribute to the cause. One of those European sons, indeed, recalls that the man they claim as father had always urged them to be sure to have children so that their genes would be passed on.
All this remains, ultimately, a footnote to the larger drama of the Lindbergh story—a fact the filmmakers apparently recognize. The best of this documentary, packed with eloquent period pictures, concerns the Lindbergh of that prewar era of his flight, his fame, the chaos that followed the kidnapping of his son—and his dizzyingly quick and permanent fall into disrepute. That evidently came as a great surprise to Lindbergh, who could never quite understand what was so offensive in his devotion to the Reich, his acceptance of a Nazi medal, his denunciation of aid to a beleaguered England, his campaign to preserve the white race, and his charges that the unduly influential Jews were trying to take the country to war.
One of the film’s commentators observes, with captivating succinctness, how strange it was, after everything, that Lindbergh would continue to express amazement about these things. Decades after the notoriously ugly 1941 speech he gave in Des Moines, Iowa, charging that President Franklin Roosevelt, the British and the Jews of America were dragging the country to war—the speech that well and truly finished him, which caused overnight mass resignations from America First organizations and editorial denunciations from even the most isolationist sectors of the American press—Charles Lindbergh still complained that nobody had paid attention to the rest of his speech. That he may have found peace and satisfaction in the creation of a few extra families—in Munich, Baden-Baden and Switzerland, respectively—each grateful to see him whenever he popped in, seems, for a man with so complicated a relation to reality, not entirely surprising.

Cast Biographies don't cut the mustard. This was an historic moment in the history of British theatre, when censorship was ridiculed and sex became a laughing matter. And yet the DVD extras provide nothing. A sorry omission.
Resurrecting Kenneth Tynan’s soft porn stage sensation of the Seventies as a DVD (without extras) in the sexually liberated Noughties is an odd one. For a start, this is theatre which, by the fact of its age, cannot fail to feel dated. For seconds, it was filmed in 1972 when Hair was considered cutting edge.
Let’s be fair, the actors do well. They feel comfortable naked although, considering the faux eroticism and simulated intercourse on display, the guys demonstrate immaculate restraint in controlling the blood vessels in their (no longer) private regions. The gals work hard to stimulate a response, even a standing ovation, without success, which only emphasises the charade.
Devised as a series of sketches, written by such luminaries as Jules Feiffer, Sam Shepard and John Lennon, and interspersed with balletic interludes in the buff, the show must have knocked the knickers off repressed theatregoers, already unzipped by the myth of the Sixties with its rumour of free love, happy baccy and velvet flares. It played in cities throughout the world, breaking box office records and may now be considered the Mamma Mia! of its time, which only goes to show that after the orgy we have returned to an age of innocence.
The sketches are parodies of What The Butler Saw, titillating sexual fantasies taken a little further and given unexpurgated dialogue to shock the audience into nervous laughter. There is a nasty rape scene in a nursery, an incident of Victorian sadism that backfires, a lazy Southern sittin’-on-the-porch kinda chewin’ the fat between a father and son that degenerates into detailed descriptions of the horizontal jive, a sex experiment in a lab (nurses aflutter), a swingers evening between a rookie couple and experienced fornicators that ends with a premature ejaculation gag and four guys masturbating to images of big tits, except the new bloke can only get off on a picture of Roy Rogers – where’s Trigger?
Oh! Calcutta stretches the boundaries, or did then. It is neither art, nor theatre. It’s like pulling down your shorts behind the school gym because Pauline Richards said she would kiss you on the mouth if you let her look. She didn’t. She ran away laughing.
You might run away, but you won’t be laughing.

Merce Cunningham in his company’s studio in the West Village in 2008.Merce Cunningham, the American choreographer who was among a handful of 20th-century figures to make dance a major art and a major form of theater, died Sunday night. He was 90 and lived in Manhattan.
Mr. Cunningham ranks with Isadora Duncan, Serge Diaghilev, Martha Graham and George Balanchine in making people rethink the essence of dance and choreography, posing a series of “But” and “What if?” questions over a career of nearly seven decades.
He went on doing so almost to the last. Until 1989, when he reached the age of 70, he appeared in every single performance given by his company, Merce Cunningham Dance Company; in 1999, at 80, though frail and holding onto a barre, he danced a duet with Mikhail Baryshnikov at the New York State Theater. And in 2009, even after observing his 90th birthday with the world premiere of the 90-minute “Nearly Ninety,” at the Brooklyn Academy of Music he went on choreographing for his dancers, telling people as they went to say farewell to him that he was still creating dances in his head.
In his final years he became almost routinely hailed as the world’s greatest choreographer. For many, he had simply been the greatest living artist since Samuel Beckett.
He had also been a nonpareil dancer. The British ballet teacher Richard Glasstone maintains that the three greatest dancers he ever saw were Fred Astaire, Margot Fonteyn and Mr. Cunningham. He was American modern dance’s equivalent of Nijinsky: the long neck, the animal intensity, the amazing leap. In old age, when he could no longer jump and when his feet were gnarled with arthritis, he remained a rivetingly dramatic performer, capable of many moods.
International fame came to him before national fame. In due course he was acknowledged in America as one of its foremost artists, but for a time his work was known here only in specialist dance, art and music circles. Not so in London, Paris and other cities. There he was widely celebrated as the creator of a new classicism, as Diaghilev’s successor, as one of the most remarkable theater artists of his day.
And it was in Europe that he was most acclaimed right through to this decade, with sold-out Cunningham seasons in Paris at the Théâtre de la Ville or the Opera.
Yet he was always a creature of New York. Close to the founding members of the so-called New York Schools of Music, Painting and Poetry, Mr. Cunningham himself, along with Jerome Robbins and the younger Paul Taylor, led the way to founding what can retrospectively be called the New York School of Dance.
These choreographers both combined and rejected the rival influences of modern dance and ballet, notably the senior choreographers Martha Graham and George Balanchine. They absorbed aspects of ordinary pedestrian movement, the natural world and city life. They tested connections between private subject matter and theatrical expression. And they re-examined the relationship between dance and its sound accompaniment.
With Graham and Balanchine, they made New York the world capital of choreography; and the New York School influenced the world in showing how pure dance could be major theater. Many of the dancers who passed through Mr. Cunningham’s company — notably Mr. Taylor and Karole Armitage — went on to be prestigious choreographers themselves. Many other choreographers, notably Twyla Tharp and Mark Morris, paid tribute to his influence.
With his collaborator and life partner John Cage, Mr. Cunningham’s most celebrated achievement was to have dance and music composed independent of each other. His choreography showed that dance was principally about itself, not music, while often suggesting that it could also be about many other things as well.

Rickey, Rice take rightful place in Hall

COOPERSTOWN, N.Y. -- Rickey Henderson and Jim Rice officially stood on the same stage as baseball's all-time greats on Sunday, taking their rightful place among them as the newest inductees into the National Baseball Hall of Fame.
As droplets of rain turned into drizzle at times at Clark Sports Center in baseball's historic burgh, the two left fielders -- the quintessential leadoff hitter Henderson and the quintessential power man Rice -- shared the stage for the annual ceremony with 50 members of the Hall of Fame.
And that's where they belonged, as Rice and Henderson gained induction in baseball's hallowed Hall of Fame, along with former Yankees and Indians second baseman Joe Gordon, who was honored posthumously. With broadcaster Tony Kubek and sportswriter Nick Peters also receiving honors for their achievements, the ceremony rolled on through the threatening skies and once again became a beacon of light into baseball's grand history.
And there stood Rickey, smiling that familiar smile, and Rice, smiling a newly familiar smile almost never seen on the field, among the greats literally and officially.
With Henderson dressed splendidly in a white suit reminiscent of his playing days with the A's and Rice in a dapper suit with a colorful tie, they fit right in with the other 50 members of the club to which they now belong.
Those 50 members in attendance were given their due at the outset of the ceremony, with longtime broadcaster George Grande listing them from Goose Gossage and Dick Williams back through time, through the Big Red Machine, through Hank Aaron and Willie Mays and finishing off with a flourish with Bob Feller, the great player and military man.
Then Kubek, the Yankees player and broadcaster who also brought the game to a national TV audience, was honored with the Ford C. Frick Award. Peters, who covered the Giants and A's for decades, was honored with the Taylor J. Spink Award.
As the first inductee to the Hall of Fame honored, Gordon was represented by his daughter, Judy Gordon, in the ceremony honoring him decades after his playing and managing career came to an end. And Judy brought her speech in his honor to a poignant conclusion, discussing her father's death in 1978.
"He insisted against having a funeral, and as such we consider Cooperstown and the National Baseball Hall of Fame as his final resting place to be honored forever," Judy Gordon said.
Elected by the Veterans Committee in recognition of an 11-year playing career with the Yankees (1938-43, 1946) and Indians (1947-50) that was interrupted by his service in World War II, Gordon made nine trips to the All-Star Game, won five World Series rings and was named the American League's Most Valuable Player in 1942 -- beating out Ted Williams, who won the AL Triple Crown.
Then the two stars of the day took center stage.
Henderson brings the all-time runs and steals records with him into Cooperstown's museum, along with one of the more intriguing. A Gold Glove left fielder, a 10-time All-Star, the 1990 American League MVP, and the AL single-season leader in stolen bases 12 times, Henderson had amassed 3,055 hits with a .401 on-base percentage, 297 home runs and 1,115 RBIs.
Rice was a .298 career hitter with 382 home runs, 2,452 hits and 1,451 RBIs in 16 seasons. He had four seasons of more than 200 hits, led the AL in home runs three times, RBIs twice, once in hits, twice in slugging percentage, was the AL MVP in 1978 and was an eight-time All-Star.
For Henderson, the wait for his first-ballot entrance to the pantheon of greats was more a matter of getting him to stop playing to start his Hall of Fame clock. For Rice, the wait was taken to the wall as big as the Green Monster, all 15 years a player is allowed to stay on the Baseball Writers Association of America ballot.
And with Rice's induction, and fitting with the theme of history spanning across generations, the link was complete from Ted Williams to Carl Yastrzemski to Rice.
"Fifty years of Hall of Fame left fielders for the Red Sox," ceremony emcee Grande pointed out.

The U.S. and Mexico face off today in the CONCACAF Gold Cup Final. Today's match, which will be the second consecutive Gold Cup Final between Mexico and the States, is the first of two U.S. - Mexico clashes in a span of 17 days. The second match, which is a World Cup Qualifier, will take place on August 12th at Estadio Azteca in Mexico City.
Today's match (2 p.m. on FSC/TeleFutura at Giants Stadium) is the third straight final for the Americans and they will be looking to take home the Gold Cup for the third time in a row. Mexico will certainly provide a tough test for the States - 'El Tri' certainly has more first teamers on their squad than the U.S. does - but no doubt Bob Bradley will have his guys ready.

We had rather hoped that this hype over the Erin Andrews peephole video link would have died down by now. But no, search variations like "Erin Andrews peephole tape torrent", and "ESPN peeping Tom" seem still be be dominating the hot searches on Google along with the older Erin Andrews video and the like.
The reason we had hoped it would die down is not over any concern for Ms. Andrews, at least not at this stage. Rather, it's a concern for those people doing the searching.
Any legitimate site with an actual copy of the peephole video soon becomes a target for the ESPN lawyers who rapidly make the site take down the video of Erin Andrews.
Which means that any site still up is not a legitmate site. In the interests of checking this out I looked on YouTube and found a site that at least purported to offer said nudie tape. Making sure that my computer was properly protected against viruses I went further (purely in the interests of reportorial research, you understand). The YouTube video stated that the site would not allow fully nude video, so I would need to go to another site, called, in this case, celebuck. (There are hundreds of these sites so the name is not all that important.)
On trying to click on what they purport is the Erin Andrews peephole video, what do you think happened? Yes, they told me I must download a new toolbar. Mhm Hmm, a new toolbar, from a site that no one has ever heard of, offering illegal access to a nudie video? What do you think would happen next?
Yes, exactly, the site tried to download a Trojan into my computer so that it could steal my passwords, do some keylogging and in general make it their PC not my PC.
So folks, might we make a suggestion? Simply stop looking for this Erin Andrews video. There are no legitimate versions of it out there or if there are, they are completely swamped by sites using it as an excuse to infect your computer with a virus. Far better for you to be off looking for something else.

American Idol auditioner Alexis Cohen died at age 25 on July 25 after being struck by a car in Seaside Heights, N.J., the Associated Press reports. Cohen's colorful behavior in early episodes of Idol's seventh and eighth seasons, including repeated rude gestures directed at the judges, made her a memorable presence. American Idol auditioner Alexis Cohen died at age 25 on July 25 after being struck by a car in Seaside Heights, N.J., the Associated Press reports. Cohen's colorful behavior in early episodes of Idol's seventh and eighth seasons, including repeated rude gestures directed at the judges, made her a memorable presence. Authorities are seeking further information about the fatal collision.

Comic-Con: Full 'Iron Man 2' Panel Report

"Iron Man 2" director Jon Favreau was nice enough to give the entire Comic-Con audience a heart attack Saturday afternoon in San Diego by showing two minutes of behind-the-scenes footage from the film. However, it took Robert Downey Jr.'s support and a quick round of happy birthdays to Favreau's son Max to get the real footage shown.
For those not interested in spoilers, skip the bulk of this piece, but for those of you who want an extensive walkthrough of the footage shown, continue reading!
In the second appearance of the Randy's Donuts shop on film today (the first being in Roland Emmerich's disaster flick "2012"), the "Iron Man 2" clip opened with Downey as Tony Stark in full costume, chilling in the famous donut statue and eating a box of frosteds. The crowd went nuts as the back of an eye-patched head came into view and Samuel L. Jackson as Nick Fury announced, "Sir, I'm going to have to ask you to exit the donut."
Inside Randy's Donuts, Stark and Fury have a discussion about Iron Man joining forces with the group Fury is assembling (The Avengers). "What if I told you I don't want to join your super-secret boy band?" Stark asked Fury, who responded by saying Iron Man going solo didn't seem to be working out so well for Tony Stark.
"I'm sorry, I don't want to get off on the wrong foot," Stark responded. "Do I look at the patch or the eye?"
The next scene showed Tony Stark in a court room arguing over whether he is obligated to turn in his suit, which was being labeled a weapon.
"It's a high-tech prosthetic," Tony said. "That's actually the most apt description I could make of it."
When the senator demanded Tony turn over the Iron Man to the people of the United States, Stark reiterated, "I am Iron Man. The suit and I are one. To turn over the Iron Man suit would be to turn over myself which is tantamount to indentured servitude or prostitution depending on what state you're in."
The first shot of Don Cheadle as Col. James Rhodes is seen as he approaches the bench against Tony. "Didn't expect to see you here," Tony said in an unhappy tone. He turned to the audience assembled in the court room, declaring, "The point is, you're welcome, I guess -- because I'm your nuclear deterrent."
"I have successfully privatized world peace," he added. "What more do you want?"
A medley of clips follow, showing Whiplash making his own suit, the first shots in the clips of Black Widow (Scarlett Johansson) and some moments of Tony with Natasha Romanoff, Black Widow's alter ego. The clips are narrated by Mickey Rourke, who was unable to attend the panel but is playing Whiplash/Ivan Vanko in the film.
"You come from a family of thieves and butchers," Rourke narrated, "and now like all guilty men you try to rewrite your own history and you try forget all the lives the Stark family has destroyed. There will be blood in the water."
The series of clips ends with a clear shot of Whiplash in full get-up (the screen shot that has been circulating the internet of Rourke), spinning his electrically charged whips around while walking towards Tony Stark on a race track. Tony's race car lies demolished behind Whiplash, while Tony lies bloodied and torn on the ground.
The next scene switched to a fight between Iron Man and a mysterious assailant in midair, but the editing was hard to follow so it wasn't clear what was happening beyond Iron Man's evasive maneuvers and the shots being fired at him.
The screen faded to black, which allowed the audience to cheer, but then a military hangar was shown. Inside the hangar, Rhodes is shown talking with Sam Rockwell's Justin Hammer, both of them looking at an iron suit.
"What did you do? What did you do?" asked Hammer excitedly. "It's classified," responded Rhodes coldly. "Is this what I think it is?" responded Hammer before showing Rhodes a range of heavy artillery.
"Give me something. You're like a sphinx; I can't read you," begged Hammer while Rhodes reviewed the guns. Rhodes said he would take all the weapons, and the final shot of the clips is War Machine in full-suited glory, hovering in the sky, shooting guns off in all directions.
Marvel Studios chief Kevin Feige, Jon Favreau, Robert Downey Jr., Don Cheadle, Scarlett Johansson and Sam Rockwell all made an appearance at the Iron Man 2 Hall H panel, with a surprise guest in the form of "Iron Man" scribe Bob Layton. Downey and Favreau pulled Layton up from the front row to join them on stage.
"They were kind enough to invite me onto the set a few days ago and treated me like I was visiting royalty," Layton said of his experience with the "Iron Man" films.
During the Q&A session that followed, Johansson was very vocal about her desire to get the role of Black Widow, said Favreau. When asked about her audition process, Favreau replied, "Did you bump your f---ing head? Her audition is her body of work."
She also discussed her desire to do her own stunts, and how most of the action seen in the film of Black Widow is Johansson's work.

Malibu Shark Attack, Fango spoke to longtime New Zealand producer Dale Bradley, who tackled his first job in Australia with MALIBU SHARK ATTACK, a killer-fish film that lensed in Queensland under the title GOBLIN SHARK ATTACK and premieres on the Sci Fi Channel (which co-produced the movie, and is soon to be known as Syfy) this summer. Bradley passed on a couple of production pics (see them below), and explains the flick’s odd original moniker.
The onscreen predators “are based on a species called goblin sharks [see art at bottom], which don’t look like your normal great white,” Bradley tells us. “They’re very fearsome-looking creatures. Ours are actually larger than the real thing, but modeled on them for the look that the CG company created. People do catch these things, but ours are monsters that get released from a big underground cavern during a seaquake. The resulting tsunami washes them ashore. Not only do car parks and basements get flooded, but we have sharks inside the buildings as well.
There’s a recipe for something cool there.”This production, whose plot is quite similar to that of the subsequently announced Russell Mulcahy project BAIT (see item here) stars local-born LA FEMME NIKITA star Peta Wilson as lifeguard heroine Heather. Her fellow cast members include Warren Christie, FINAL DESTINATION 3’s Chelan Simmons, BLOOD ANGELS’ Sonya Salomaa, Rachel Barton, Remi Broadway, Jeff Gannon and UNDEAD’s Mungo McKay. The director is BLOOD OF BEASTS’ David Lister, with previously announced helmer Brian Trenchard-Smith remaining on board as a producer.“The central characters are lifeguards on Malibu Beach,” Bradley explains, “who survive the wave but get trapped under their building.
The sharks know they are there and break in. There’s another great location—a construction site that’s also flooded—and the survivors manage to escape there, thinking it’s safe. But next thing, the sharks bash down the roller doors and swim inside, so they’re trapped in the basement. We’ve got a bit of ALIEN in there, and some good mayhem: amputations, people chopped in half. We shot one today featuring some lovely prosthetic work by makeup artist Sharon Robberts where a guy has lost both his legs. We’ve got another scene that’s a bit of a homage to JAWS 3-D, where a parasailor gets into all sorts of trouble and ends up being half the man he used to be.”
